How can I run an open node with RPC restricted only to localhost?

Currently, I can run an open node and connect my wallet from another system (with restricted-rpc to be safe)

OR

I can run the node with RPC enabled (so I can monitor from localhost, eg monerod status, monerod stop_daemon, etc) in which case I should not bind to an external IP address (correct?).

How can I configure monerod to do both?

Is it possible to make timelock transactions with Monero? [duplicate]

This question already has an answer here:

I am thinking about ways to make use of Monero in the context of a dead man's switch and stumbled upon timelock transactions, which execute transactions once a specified block-height is reached (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Timelock). Is there a way to make these types of transactions right now? In case it's not, would it be possible to implement this feature sometime in the future?

Looking forward to hear your input!

Is there a list of active monero full nodes?

Is there a list of active Monero full nodes?

Something like Bitnodes for Bitcoin that maintains a list of IP addresses for currently active Monero nodes.

How to remove the GUI wallet on Mac?

How do I remove the wallet completely, also deleting the monero chain that I have downloaded?

I can't find the file path and I am a bit new on Mac. A short guide would be much appreciated.

I have secured my seed.

There are three options for CPU mining Monero on a pool. Which one is best? [closed]

I see Claymore's CPU miner, Wolf's CPU miner, and YAM. How do I know which one to choose?

How long do I have to wait for simplewallet to be synchronized again?

So from time to time I use my simplewallet together with the bitmonerod.
I start up bitmonerod and wait until its up to date.
Then I start up the simplewallet but its empty.

Now I have to use the refresh command and wait about 10-20min for all blocks to be re-scanned.

I can't imagine that I have to wait that long before i have a balance and can move it from old confirmed blocks that I synced days before.

So how does the simplewallet auto refresh work?
Is there someway to only refresh new blocks or is simplewallet already doing that, if yes can I somehow see the progress?

I would love to just have the daemon run in the background or on a pc in my network and only open simplewallet when I need to make a transaction but having to wait for it to refresh all blocks takes just to long.

Do I miss something that could help me with the problem?

monero.stackexchange - Using Monero as a C Library
« Reply #113 on: September 14, 2017, 12:29:44 PM »
Using Monero as a C Library

I am looking to build an offline wallet for Monero. However, most of my tooling is in Perl and C. If Monero was written in C, I could just call the C functions from my Perl modules. I think it is possible to call C++ functions from Perl relatively painlessly, but to do that I need to know how to access the functions in the Monero code base. Would someone be able to point out how to install Monero as a library instead of just the binary? Or does the docker install also include installing a library?  It looks like it comes down to getting monero_headers.h to get imported into a C file and calling it from my Perl code.

I know that this should work, because I did this a while ago, but it doesn't. It opens as usual till "Loading blockchain from folder C:.....", But it works when I turn the internet back on. Is there anything I can do?

wolf xmr miner v0.4 configuration gpu

I want to use this miner but don't want it to control anything about the GPU. This will be controlled by MSI Afterburner which I know works just fine with my cards.

So do I need to give the miner all this information like GPU speed and Fan speed?

Also I never got it to work. Even when downloading sample configs which should work fine it tells me:

[15:28:30] Error loading configuration file: '}' expected near end of file on line 24.

Everytime this error ...?
This one was printed out with this configuration:

How would Monero verify transactions on a 2-way pegged sidechain?

From my understanding, in order to retrieve tokens on a side-chain, you would have to send your XMR to some address that would then be unlocked when you burn the side-chain tokens.

How could Monero verify that anything has actually occurred on the side-chain and unlock the XMR?

dEBRUYNE answered the following in relation to a side-chain question:

To prevent issues with the mainchain we would have to implement a
cryptographic proof, i.e., the amount of XMR that went into the
sidechain would have to be equal to the amount of XMR that goes back
  into the "mainchain".

I guess I'd like a little more explanation of what the cryptographic proof would be / how it would be implemented?
